In order to make informed healthcare choices for you and your family, you should have an understanding of the healthcare system AND a clear way to identify qualified practitioners who meet the highest professional standards.
The Principal List Identification Programme (PLIP) was established by the Cayman Islands Medical and Dental Society to provide a transparent and reliable framework for identifying healthcare providers who have been vetted and approved by the Society.
Under PLIP, practitioners listed on the Principal List have demonstrated compliance with regulatory requirements, maintained their professional credentials, and committed to ongoing continuing medical education (CME). This ensures that patients can trust that the practitioners they visit are qualified, competent, and up-to-date with the latest medical knowledge.
The programme serves as an important bridge between the healthcare regulatory framework and the general public. By checking whether a practitioner is on the Principal List, patients can verify their healthcare provider's credentials before seeking treatment.
CIMDS encourages all residents to take an active role in their healthcare decisions. If you have questions about a practitioner's status or would like more information about the PLIP, please contact the Society or visit our directory to search for registered practitioners.
We believe that an informed public is the foundation of a healthy community. The Principal List Identification Programme is one of the ways CIMDS works to uphold the standards of medical and dental best practices in the Cayman Islands.
